New Students

Welcome to Heiwado Karate Cneter! We are thrilled to have you join our community and want to extend our sincerest thanks for choosing to train with us.

At our dojo, we focus on the unique needs of every individual student. While we do our best to instill discipline and provide rigorous training in the art of Karate, our mission extends far beyond the mat. Our goal is not only to teach practical self-defense, but more importantly, to help our students become focused individuals, respectful martial artists, and outstanding future citizens in our community.

Uniforms

• Your First Uniform: Your introductory uniform is priced at $25 (a savings of over 50% off the retail price). Please note that you will likely not receive your uniform on your very first day of enrollment unless you previously took a trial class and confirmed your registration ahead of time.
• Arrival Time for Fitting: On the day you are scheduled to receive your uniform, please arrive 15 to 30 minutes before class starts. If you arrive late or right as class begins, we will need to handle the fitting and handoff after class concludes to avoid disrupting training.
• Dojo Patch Placement & Care: You will receive an official dojo patch that must be sewn onto the left chest of the uniform.
• CRITICAL NOTE: These are not iron-on patches. Any attempt to iron the patch on will ruin both the patch and your uniform.
• If you need assistance, Sensei Mya is available to professionally stitch the patch onto the uniform for a small fee.
• Accepted Payment Methods: For uniforms, patches, and fees, we accept Cash, Check, Zelle, or Venmo.
• You are also free to purchase uniforms from another source.

If you are a student from another dojo you can wear your Gi/Uniform from that school but please wear a white belt until we can determine your rank in our dojo.

Uniform Standard and Personal Hygiene

To maintain a safe, respectful, and professional training environment for all students, please adhere to the following standards:

• Uniform Cleanliness: Karate uniforms (gis) must be washed regularly. Training in a clean uniform is a sign of respect for yourself, your classmates, and the dojo.

• Safety & Jewelry: For the safety of all students, no jewelry, watches, or bracelets may be worn during class. Please remove these items before stepping onto the mat.

• Nail Care: All fingernails and toenails must be trimmed short. Long nails present a scratching hazard during sparring and partner drills.

• Hair & Appearance: For female students (or anyone with long hair), please use a secure hair tie to keep hair tied back and out of the face during training.

Class Schedule

We train every Wednesday and Thursday evening. Please ensure your student arrives on time for their designated session:

• 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Beginner & Novice Class

  • Ages: 6 to 9 years old

  • Ranks: White Belt up to Green/Black Stripe (or Blue/White Stripe).

• 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Intermediate & Advanced Class

  • Ages: 9 years old and up

  • Ranks: Green/Black Stripe or Brown/White Stripe and above.

  • Exceptions: Exceptional 8-year-old students holding a Brown/White Stripe belt may be permitted to join this advanced session.
